Original workshop template

This is the original template used to build workshops in Moodle. QA surveys indicated that participants found the platform difficult to navigate. Some course links appeared on the homepage, but without any descriptors, new participants had to guess what they were for, and had no indication where to get started. Other course links appeared only in the right side, which disappears to the bottom of the screen on smaller devices.

Redesigned workshop template

Using QA survey data and collaborating closely with the Learning Design & Development team, as well as the lead facilitators, I redesigned the workshop homepage to improve navigability and the overall user experience. All workshop links can be accessed from the home page, and include descriptors. Workshop links are categorized by function. A Getting Started box contains the key resources participants should review before beginning the workshop. A space for a facilitator photo and profile link has been added in a side block. I also created a dropdown menu that will appear at the top of each module page so that participants can access course links no matter where they are within the workshop.  I had to use a combination of HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap coding to create this template.
